  1. Insert rod flush with left edge of vise in the mill.
    • The rod should be on top of 1-1/2 inch parallels
  2. Hold grinding wheel with 3/4 collet with at least 1 inch stick out.
  3. Center grinding wheel on Y-axis of rod and past the left edge.
  4. Lower wheel to be approximately even with rod.
  5. Make sure to be in forward gear.
  6. With spindle on, approach end of rod from the left.
  7. Slow down when you get close and advance until wheel just starts making contact.
  8. Zero the x-axis.
  9. Raise spindle and move to 0.5 inch in the x-axis and lock it.
  10. Lower spindle above rod until it is close and lock spindle in place.
  11. With spindle on, raise table until wheel just starts making contact.
  12. Adjust handle to 0.
  13. Move along y until wheel is behind rod.
  14. Raise table 0.005 inch (0.005 inch total).
  15. Move along y until wheel is in front of rod at a rate of about 1 revolution per 5 seconds.
  16. Move back to starting position.
  17. Raise table 0.005" (0.010 inch total).
  18. Move along y until wheel is in front of rod at a rate of about 1 revolution per 5 seconds.
  19. Move back to starting position.
  20. Raise table 0.005" (0.015 inch total).
  21. Move along y until wheel is in front of rod at a rate of about 1 revolution per 5 seconds.
  22. Move back to starting position.
  23. Release clamp and spin rod 180 setting up as before with newly machined flat on the right top approximately level.
  24. Lower table past 0.
  25. Raise table to 0.
  26. Repeat above for the other end of the bar.
