Furnace Installation

From Aeon HACS Wiki
  1. Make sure that the housing on the furnace has heatshrink on it that does not restrict it from plugging into another housing.
  2. Make sure that the center of the CCQ furnace has been widened with some sort of tool so that the IP furnace a liner can easily slide through it.
    • Check the instructions for CCQ furnace.
  3. Set the bottom stop on the carriage to insure that the furnaces will not hit the bottom of the frame.
    • Check the model to find this position.
  4. If there is a CCQ furnace then install it first and make it flush with the bottom of the carriage
  5. With every furnace make sure that the furnace clamp bracket is in the correct orientation according to the model
  6. Also make sure that the furnace is held securely by the furnace clamp
  7. Install the CCS furnace and place the IP furnace spacer on top of it
  8. move the CCS furnace up until the two furnaces hold the spacers tightly
  9. use the furance alighment tool to set the position of the furnaces
  10. lock the furnaces into their final position
    • With every furnace make sure that the furnace clamp bracket is in the correct orientation according to the model.
    • Also make sure that the furnace is held securely by the furnace clamp and can not rotate, use ceramic fiber blanket 1" 6 lb 1260 C to fill the space.
  11. Install the CCS furnace
  12. Place the IP furnace spacer on top of the CCS and install the CCQ furnace.
  13. Move the CCQ furnace down until the two furnaces hold the spacers tightly.
  14. Use the furnace alignment tool to find and set the position of the furnaces.
    • The alignment tool should not stick to anything, if does its either because the hole on the CCQ wasn't wide enough or the position of the furnaces is wrong.
  15. Lock the furnaces into their final position.
  16. Raise and lower the carriage to make sure that the position of the furnaces is correct.
  17. Test the carriage with a piece of the correct tubing/glass

Setting the Height for Top Stop on Carriage

  1. First place the alignment tool in the inlet port and move it down 2 millimeter.
    This needs to be accurate.
  2. Then raise the slide until the tool hits the top of the thermocouple in the CCS furnace, be careful not to push the alignment back up
  3. Lock the slide in place then tighten the slide stop.
