Instructions

carriage end plate tabs with indicated distance (0.125 in) highlighted
  1. Shortening the Length of the Folded Tabs
    Set Up the Machine:
Install a large-size endmill in the milling machine.
Set the machine to auto-feed mode.
Adjust the machine to run at a very slow speed to ensure precision.
    Cutting the Tabs:
Position the Carriage End Plate in the machine securely.
Carefully cut each folded tab to a length of 0.125 inches.
Ensure only one tab is cut at a time to maintain accuracy and avoid errors.
  2. Removing Burrs and Softening Edges
    Deburring:
Inspect each tab for burrs after cutting.
Use a deburring tool to remove any sharp edges or burrs from the tabs.
    Grinding:
Use a grinding wheel to soften the edges of the tabs.
Ensure that the tabs are smooth and do not have any sharp or rough edges that could interfere with the assembly.
  3. Ensuring Tab Clearance
    Check Clearance:
Place the Carriage End Plate in the intended position within the furnace carriage frame.
Ensure that the tabs do not touch or interfere with the frame when the sliding lock is tightened.
  4. Widening the Hole for the Spacer
    Reaming the Hole:
Use a 1/5 inch oversize reamer to widen the pre-existing hole in the Carriage End Plate.
Carefully and gradually ream the hole until it reaches the desired size, ensuring precision.
    Testing the Fit:
Insert the spacer (black nylon 257 x 500 x 125) into the reamed hole.
Ensure the spacer slides through freely without any resistance.
  5. Final Checks
    Inspection:
Inspect the Carriage End Plate to ensure all modifications have been made accurately.
Verify that all edges are smooth and that the tabs are correctly shortened and deburred.
    Assembly Readiness:
Confirm that the Carriage End Plate is ready for assembly in the Furnace Carriage Kit.
Ensure all components fit together properly and securely.
