- Shortening the Length of the Folded Tabs
- Set Up the Machine:
- Install a large-size endmill in the milling machine.
- Set the machine to auto-feed mode.
- Adjust the machine to run at a very slow speed to ensure precision.
- Cutting the Tabs:
- Position the Carriage End Plate in the machine securely.
- Carefully cut each folded tab to a length of 0.125 inches.
- Ensure only one tab is cut at a time to maintain accuracy and avoid errors.
- Set Up the Machine:
- Removing Burrs and Softening Edges
- Deburring:
- Inspect each tab for burrs after cutting.
- Use a deburring tool to remove any sharp edges or burrs from the tabs.
- Grinding:
- Use a grinding wheel to soften the edges of the tabs.
- Ensure that the tabs are smooth and do not have any sharp or rough edges that could interfere with the assembly.

- Check Clearance:
- Place the Carriage End Plate in the intended position within the furnace carriage frame.
- Ensure that the tabs do not touch or interfere with the frame when the sliding lock is tightened.
- Check Clearance:
- Widening the Hole for the Spacer
- Reaming the Hole:
- Use a 1/5 inch oversize reamer to widen the pre-existing hole in the Carriage End Plate.
- Carefully and gradually ream the hole until it reaches the desired size, ensuring precision.
- Testing the Fit:
- Insert the spacer (black nylon 257 x 500 x 125) into the reamed hole.
- Ensure the spacer slides through freely without any resistance.
- Reaming the Hole:
- Final Checks
- Inspection:
- Inspect the Carriage End Plate to ensure all modifications have been made accurately.
- Verify that all edges are smooth and that the tabs are correctly shortened and deburred.
- Assembly Readiness:
- Confirm that the Carriage End Plate is ready for assembly in the Furnace Carriage Kit.
- Ensure all components fit together properly and securely.
- Inspection:
