Instructions
- Cut the bar
- Start by cutting a SS304 bar (3/16" x 1/2") to the length specified in the model
- Use a bandsaw to ensure the bar is ground to the correct length
- The final length should be within 10 thousandths of the specified length in the model
- Drill holes
- Position the bar in the mill and drill a 0.169" hole .500" away from the edge of the bar
- Note that the holes are 25 thousandths larger than the 6-32 screw that will pass through them
- Chamfer the holes
- Use a carbide chamber bit to carefully chamfer the holes on both sides of the bar
- This step is to remove any burrs around the holes. Handle the carbide bit with care, as it is brittle and can break easily
- Remove burrs
- Inspect the ends of the bar for any remaining burrs
- If burrs are present, use a grinding wheel to remove them and ensure a smooth finish.
